The Arnone group exploits the ease of cis-regulatory and functional analyses, the accessibility to biochemical technologies for transcription factor purification and the recently developed genomics resources of the sea urchin embryo for the study of gene regulatory networks (GRN) in development. Current projects in the lab are:  Evolution of the mesoderm specification network. Gut regionalization in the sea urchin larva. Sensory cells in the sea urchin adult and larva.

Within EvoNet, they plan to identify in the sea urchin embryo direct targets of transcription factors crucially involved in the mesoderm specification network (e.g., Brachyury, Mef2,Twist) by Chromatin IP, followed by genome wide analysis (ChIP-on-chip or ChIP-on-Seq).
